Frequently Asked Questions

1) I’m new to the oil and gas industry. Where should I start?

If you're just entering the industry, we recommend starting with our free introductory courses and IADC WellSharp Awareness-level courses. These are built for complete beginners and cover the fundamentals of drilling, well control, and oilfield operations using animations, quizzes and easy-to-follow lessons.

2) Do I need technical knowledge to start these courses?

Not at all. All beginner courses include animated overviews of concepts like density, pressure, formation fluids, and drilling equipment. You'll learn everything from the ground up.

3) What’s the difference between IADC Awareness and IADC WellSharp Introductory level courses?

Both are beginner’s courses. IADC Awareness level is very basic and ideal for non-technical personnel, students, or those that do supporting roles in the oilfield. Introductory courses are a step up, ideal for those who may soon be working on rigs or in field positions.

4) I already have some field experience. Should I skip the beginner courses?

If you’ve worked in drilling or well servicing before, you can consider Intermediate courses. These assume you’re familiar with basic rig operations and go deeper into well control procedures, calculations, and kick scenarios.

5) How long does each course take to complete?

It depends on the course level. IADC Awareness courses take around 4–6 hours, while Intermediate ones may take 10–15 hours. You can complete them at your own pace.

6) Are these online courses self-paced?

Yes, All our courses are fully online & self.paced. Including our hands-on simulators.

7) I’m just a college student. Can I get a discount?

Absolutely! We love supporting students. If you're a serious learner, just fill out this form, and we’ll get back to you with an exclusive student offer.

8) What’s the difference between IADC and IWCF certifications?

Both are globally recognized accreditation bodies.IADC (International Association of Drilling Contractors) is common in the U.S. & Latin America, while IWCF (International Well Control Forum) is widely used in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.

9) What if I fail the final exam?

IADC & IWCF certifications have strict guidelines on the number of allowed exam attempts. But don’t worry if you don’t pass on your first try, we’re here to help. Our team will guide you through resits, renewals, and everything you need to successfully complete your certification.

10) Are the free courses enough to help me land a job?

Free courses are a great way to begin exploring the field, but they may not be specific or enough. Most employers and HRs look for recognized certifications such as those accredited by IADC or IWCF when hiring candidates.

11) How do I get a job after completing the training?

Once you complete an IADC or IWCF certified course, you’ll receive a downloadable certificate to add to your LinkedIn, resume, & job applications. It significantly boosts your chances of landing a job. Plus, our upcoming job board will soon help you apply directly to oil and gas roles all in one place- Stay tuned!

12) Are these courses valid for company or job compliance?
